Wyliepalooza boasts delicious menu, disappointing decor

Wyliepalooza Ice Cream Emporium has three locations, its first located in Irvington. Wyliepalooza was given a rating of 3 out of 5 by reporter Lizze Everts.

You might find yourself blushing when ordering dessert with all the funky flavors and assemblies of ice cream at Wyliepalooza Ice Cream Emporium. Some flavors include the Hot Mess, Super Fruity Man and Fat Elvis.
Wyliepalooza started as a small family owned ice cream shop located in downtown Irvington, but it took flight, opening new locations in Brownsburg and now Fishers, which is no surprise with its uniqueness. You can’t get ice cream like this just anywhere.
The ice cream is endless, it seems. They have every flavor you can think of, and some that maybe you couldn’t. They also have old standbys like the classic Vanilla or the Dutch Apple Pie, that has real diced apples!
They are best known for their Boba Tea (bubble tea), which comes in a wide variety of flavors, just like their ice cream. The original Boba Tea was called the Taro. It it quite interesting and comes in a tall glass with a huge straw. In the bottom of the Boba are the Boba beads, these little dark purple balls with the chewiness of a bath bead, only with no flavor. The only bonus of the Boba is the Taro flavoring which is like a delicious hazelnut in the liquid part of the tea.

The atmosphere at Wyiepalooza is quaint and old school. When I first walked in I was not impressed with the little seating they had. Overall, the shop seemed to need updates. The stools, although authentic, had rips, and the only other seating was in the form small wooden chairs. Nothing about this shop’s decor would have made you think it was something special, or that it would offer such delicacies as their Yippee Skippee Ice Cream, which is a peanut butter ice cream with real and crispy chocolate covered pretzel pieces in it. (It is like eating a ice cream Captain Crunch.)
I would give Wyliepalooza 3 out of 5 stars. Although the ice cream is to die for, it doesn’t make up for the outdated shop or those disgusting Boba beads.
