Students and staff gathered Friday morning during G1 to celebrate several individuals and teams from both performing arts and athletics who are heading to state this weekend. Principal Brett Crousore welcomed everyone into the Jack Keefer Gymnasium as the pep band played the school song as the cheerleaders cheered. Orchestra teacher Lori Metzger introduced the state Solo and Ensemble Orchestra members that will be playing on Saturday. That was followed by boys basketball head coach Chris Giffin recognizing Senior Azavier Robinson as LN’s All-Time Leading Scorer. He surpassed Greg Oden’s record last week during the Pike game. Head wrestling coach Jacob Aven then honored wrestlers Sophomore Caiden Underwood, who came in 8th at state last weekend, and Junior Michael White, who finished as the state runner-up. Next, dance teacher Michael Humphrey introduced the crowd to the Advanced Dance Team who will be competing in state on Sunday at the Fairgrounds. After they were introduced, swimming coach Tom Moore recognized the swimmers and alternates heading to state today and tomorrow. Finally, head coach Stephen Thomas and the girls basketball team took the floor as the crowd cheered. They will take on the Warsaw Tigers tomorrow night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse at 8:15 p.m. in the state final.
