LN welcomes 16 new faculty members
Tuesday Anderson (College and Career Liaison)
North Star: What do you like to do in your free time?
Anderson: I love to play with my three kids. I like to read and work out. I also love to shop. Go out with my husband to the movies or try new restaurants around town.
NS: Why did you come to LN?
Anderson: I have wanted to get into the high school setting. My passion is working with kids on getting to that next level. When this position became available I decided that I had to stretch myself and try something new and different.
NS: What are you excited about?
Anderson: I am really excited about the seniors graduating. Not to say like “oh get them out of here” but just to be able to experience that.
NS: Has there anything interesting that you have noticed about LN?
Anderson: The students seem to be really engaged. Everyone seems to be having fun.
NS: What superpower do you want and why?
Anderson: Honestly, I think I want the power to heal, to help. If someone was hurting I could just look at them and relieve that pain.
NS: If you could be any animal what would you be and why?
Anderson: I would either be a dolphin or a deer. Dolphins are more intelligent than people give them credit for and their ability to swim super fast is just really cool. And deer look gentil but they are a beast when they are after their young. I think I am like that.
Sara Bowron (Mathematics)
North Star: What do you like to do in your free time?
Bowron: I like spending time with my kids and scrapbooking. I am in a book club.

NS: What are you excited about?
Bowron: Getting to work with the other math teachers and being in a big building.
NS: Is there anything interesting that you have noticed about LN?
Bowron: Everybody is friendly here.
NS: What superpower do you want and why?
Bowron: I would like to be able to stretch time so I could get more stuff done.
NS: If you could be any animal what would you be and why?
Bowron: Probably something that lives in the water.
Deborah Brim (Family and Consumer Science)
North Star: What do you like to do in your free time?
Brim: Crochet. I make things that are sold to benefit the Salvation Army.
NS: Why did you come to LN?
Brim: I was hoping very much to get a job at LN. My children went to LN and I live just 1.3 miles away!
NS: What are you excited about?
Brim: Having a job that is less than two miles from home so I can sleep in. My passion is food, so this is a perfect job.
NS: Is there anything interesting that you have noticed about LN?
Brim: I don’t have an old school. I am literally a brand new teacher. I went back to college at the age of 50 and just graduated last December. Teaching is the last thing on my “Do Before I Die” list.
NS: What superpower do you want and why?
Brim: If I had one, to make people laugh, because laughter fixes everything. My husband did stand-up comedy, so we laugh at our house a lot anyway.
NS: If you could be any animal what would you be and why?
Brim: The lion because he’s regal and royal and we should all achieve that.

NS: Why did you come to LN?
Hernandez: I completed my student teaching here at LN, and I immediately fell in love with the school, teachers, and of course, students! This really is an awesome school, and I’m proud of the opportunity I have to teach here. Both the teachers and administrators are passionate about education and truly care about the kids. And, it’s cool to see how open-minded and compassionate LN’s students are.

NS: Is there anything interesting that you have noticed about LN?
Hernandez: Everyone is incredibly friendly and supportive.
NS: If you could be any animal what would you be and why?

Latham: The opportunity to be able to present something to the kids here that they are excited about, something that they can take ownership in and be proud and say that I’m a part of the Lawrence North dance department.
NS: Is there anything interesting that you have noticed about LN?
Latham: Before I came to LN, I was at Brook Park Elementary School. I enjoyed working with little people, but I am excited to be among these amazing young adults.
NS: What superpower do you want and why?

NS: Why did you come to LN?
Nuñez: I came to LN because a great opportunity opened up while I was interested in changing grade levels. I had another school system close to my home where I could have been, but Lawrence Township is my home away from home. I also love the language programs that Lawrence Township supports and this makes me stay in Lawrence. I feel close to home being able to speak Spanish and share my culture and language with my students.
NS: What are you excited about?
Nuñez: I would say that each school has it unique way of being and a way of doing things according to the needs. NS: Why did you come to LN?
Savage: I consider LNHS home…That’s why I am back.

Number two, being back with my old colleagues and meeting my new colleagues and then working with the kids, something I’ve done for 32 years now. And so I really missed that and working with the kids, that I can say would be a big part of it. I’m excited about working with the wrestling team, something I’m going to do this year.
