Seniors reflect on final season of fall sports

After the conclusion of the fall sports season, it was a tough for some seniors to make their final walk off the court, field and course. There were a lot of positive for all LN fall sports team this and for the seniors this was very important. Kyle Wainscott, a senior on the LN’s men soccer team made his final appearance as a Wildcat just a few weeks ago and he shared his feelings on what is was like.

“I’m really going to miss playing soccer here for Lawrence North. It was very bittersweet moment when I walked off the field for my last time. I’m looking at the positive side of it and I’m just excited to start the new chapter in my life and play soccer at the collegiate level. It makes it a lot easier too knowing that our team still has a lot of good players coming back next year to hold down the team,” said Wainscott.

For others it was a bit harder because they knew that their soccer career was over unlike for Wainscott. Brian Perry, a senior for the LN men’s soccer team also shared his feelings about walking off for one last time.

“It was pretty sad actually. I’m really going to miss representing Lawrence North soccer and playing with so many great players and people here. What I’ll miss most though is the pre-game bus rides with the team and the long and hard fought games we played. Lawrence North soccer is really a brotherhood and it makes me feel better knowing I’ll have a relationship with them too after soccer concluded,” said Perry.

The men’s soccer team lost in the sectional finals to Cathedral but went into overtime and fought hard until the final whistle. The girls volleyball team also lost in the sectional finals to a tough Cathedral team and senior Mackenzie Knass gave her outlook on here season and how it feels now that the volleyball season has concluded.

“We had a great season and I wish we could still be playing now but there is only one team left standing at the end of the year. Now that it’s all over it is kind of sad but I’ve had a great four years here playing volleyball for Lawrence North so there is really nothing to be sad about.”
