Winterfest 2023, the performing arts annual holiday concert, has been a tradition at Lawrence North for many years. This year’s Winterfest is split into two days.
Orchestra and band will perform tonight at 7 p.m., showcasing all kinds of festive music for those attending. Tomorrow, all choirs, including Legacy, Bella, Chamber, Treble, Voices, and more, will perform, again starting at 7 p.m.
Both days there will be concessions, winter grams with ornaments, and programs. Also, on Saturday tacos will be open for everyone to enjoy starting at 4 p.m.
Stacy Neill, the performance arts administrative assistant, states the importance of this program.
“People should come to Winterfest to support their friends and to see what our performance arts are all about, and also to see if they are interested. New people are always welcome,” Neill said.
Winterfest being split into two days has been very helpful, according to performing arts department chair David Morton.
“We decided to split Winterfest into two days because we felt it was too long. We also did not want people on the band and orchestra night to think we didn’t have a dance and choir department but also didn’t want people on the choir and dance night to think we didn’t have a band and orchestra department but, ultimately we decided it was best for it to be two nights.”
The performers want people to enjoy these holiday evenings.
“We were able to add more events for both nights, which many people seem to be happy with,” Morton said.
