Football vs. Fishers: Game Recap

Lawrence North football started off the season with a bang last Friday as the Wildcats took down Fishers in a scrimmage by an unofficial score of 30- 6. The offense shined as the Cats’ rushed for two touchdowns, while passing for another three. Senior quarterback Jackson Hamersly seemed to be sidelined with an injury on Friday, as Hamserly was seen in a boot during Friday’s scrimmage.  Filling in was sophomore quarterback Derin McCulley, who played in what was only the third game of his career in which he saw game action. McCulley shined though as he went 7 for 12 and passed for zero interceptions and three touchdowns. Two of those were caught by senior running back Al McKeller, as he lead the way for the offense and added one rushing touchdown to bring his total to three for the night.

Leading the passing game was Junior Aaron Williams as he had four catches and added in a touchdown for the Wildcats. Senior tight end Chetric Reid impressed as he got the offense flowing with three catches.

Eleven different players saw action at running back on Friday, and Senior running back Martell Williams showed some glare on as he opened up play with a 65 yard rushing touchdown on the first play. Sophomore Ko’Keyto Stewart  impressing in his eight rushes, and Senior Elijah Smith added five more rushes.

The Wildcats front line was also a high point Friday night, as they only gave up one rushing touchdown during the game, in the first quarter of play. Junior LB Mailq Carr added in a few tackles in what was a tough night for Fishers on the offensive end. Senior DL Myles McClendon also showed some toughness, as he helped put a stop to the Fishers running game.

Although  it’s just a scrimmage, fans certainly have a lot to be excited about as the Wildcats look to be improved greatly this season. They open official play on Friday at 7 p.m., as they take on Noblesville in their first home game of 2016.
