The North Star was named a 2014 Hoosier Star, one of the highest distinctions for a student newspaper in the state of Indiana. Lawrence North was one of four schools in the state whose newspaper was recognized as a Hoosier Star winner. The award is decided by the Indiana High School Press Association (IHSPA), a branch of the Indiana Press Association.

Several individual staffers were also recognized by the IHSPA for their work last year. Division III Harvey awards received by North Star staffers are listed below.
